Tips for safe(r) browsing.

We’ve designed imi with a vision for a world where being LGBTQ+ is something to be celebrated, rather than hidden. Unfortunately, not everyone has caught up to this vision. Sometimes as LGBTQ+ folks we have to take steps to protect ourselves, especially online. As you’re using imi, here are a few tips to help improve your safety and privacy.

shared or monitored computer

  • always close your tabs and browser when you’re finished browsing 

  • clear your browser herstory often 

  • use the red ‘quick exit’ button to clear your partially completed responses from your current activity in the app

  • browse in private or incognito mode where possible

protecting your screen

  • turn off notifications, whenever possible

  • use a privacy screen on your phone, or other device, so people can’t snoop over your shoulder

  • turn down the brightness of your screen

  • utilize the red ‘quick exit’ button in the top right corner to immediately exit imi at any time
